TMP Helps Plant One Million Trees
On Saturday, September 27th more than 75 TMP volunteers participated in National Public Lands Day (NPLD) and their One Million Trees planting initiative. TMP planted more than 150 trees and joined hands with local and regional organizations to help restore parks and public lands nationwide. As a sponsor of the event, TMP helped procure hundreds of trees, along with tools and mulch for parks around the country. Recruited family members and friends joined in the environmental restoration projects at locations close to our offices.
As a result, we're pleased to have made an impact—and have joined forces with NPLD. More than 1,500 volunteers restored our public lands, and NPLD surpassed its goal of planting 1 million trees September 27th.
To celebrate this successful environmental volunteer initiative, we conducted a photo contest to showcase the hard work, dedication and spirit of the TMP teams.
We enjoyed teaming up with our colleagues for this volunteer day and will continue our commitment to giving back to our communities and to improving the environment. We hope that this positive experience will encourage others to take an active role in the future and look forward to participating in 2009!
About National Public Lands Day
National Public Lands Day (NPLD) is the nation's largest hands-on volunteer effort to maintain America's public lands. This program will plant one million trees by September 27th to commemorate the Civilian Conservation Corps, the "tree army" that worked from 1933-42 to preserve and protect America's natural heritage. The program began in 1994 with three federal agencies and 700 volunteers – and it has grown quickly since then. In 2007, NPLD inspired over 110,000 public volunteers to work in 1,300 locations in all 50 states.
