The July 2006 annual conference of The National Association for Health Care Recruitment (NAHCR) in Boston, entitled Image 2006: Winning the Health Care Marathon, delivered a lot of value for the long run. Everyone involved came away with strategic concepts, valuable education, new network connections, and plenty of thought-provoking ideas about the future of healthcare recruiting and retention.
Attendees felt the events, seminars, and opportunities for interaction were right on target! This may be related to the fact that content for this 32nd Annual NAHCR Conference was developed directly from NAHCR Members' Survey received from the previous year's conference. In July 2005 the association asked, members responded, and conference planners were able to set an agenda for July 2006 that had substance for industry professionals as well as a whole lot of fun.
Popular sessions spanned the gamut of health care recruiting, from Everyday Business Writing Skills to Do you know your employment regulations? to When Disaster Strikes! Participants were active in raising and addressing new issues, and they took advantage of the many opportunities to interact with their peers outside the formal sessions. A post-conference cocktail party hosted by Monster was a big hit and a nice way to wind up the show.
The TMP booth was located in a central space and saw constant activity. Attendees viewed a healthcare video and completed brief online surveys on their recruitment and retention activities. In turn, all visitors received t-shirts, highlighters, and pedometers it's a marathon, remember!
TMP had the opportunity to meet tons of clients and exchange ideas with healthcare recruiters from all over the country. As Greta Sherman, TMP's healthcare retention expert and a keynote speaker at the conference summed it up, "The NAHCR members are always a wealth of information about what is really happening in the trenches. Metrics, cutting edge recruitment and retention programs everything comes together at the annual convention. The information flows both ways and it's always a very important event for TMP."
